RumorsAboutWe've all heard things from other people — a new series, a new character, but what's true and what's not? This page will help you understand fact from fiction and determine what is real from what is false. Obviously, there are major spoilers for the end of some of the series, so be careful of what you read! I've tried to make the titles as less spoilery as possible but at the same time blatant of whether there's a spoiler coming up.Jump to: Kurumi, the Black OjamajoI wasn't around when this rumor first occured, but when I came upon a fan site, I did believe this information for a while until I checked the cast listings and read some other websites.Basically, rumors of there being a black Ojamajo surfaced in 2001, around the time when Mo~tto! Ojamajo Doremi was airing. The black Ojamajo was named Kurumi, and her last name was Narashino. She had a fairy named Riri, and the characters were said to appear in the middle of Mo~tto! Ojamajo Doremi. The truth is Kurumi was a fan character made up by fanartist Shin. Basically, people just saw his fanart and thought that it was from an official source. Conclusion: Kurumi is a fan character. Momoko and Hana-chan's Dub NamesYou might have heard somewhere that Momoko's name is "Mindy" or "Anna Robinson" and Hana-chan's name is "Flora" in the US dub. However, they're both wrong. They don't have any, and I question the lack of validity because this information was spread through websites which visitors can submit information without proper verification."Mindy" is Momoko's name in the European dubs, and same with "Flora" for Hana-chan. They're not the US names. As for "Anna Robinson", from what I've heard it was a proposed dub name for Momoko from Toei from a long time ago. The US dub is handled by 4Kids Entertainment, and there have been no news of them licensing anything past the first series. Both Hana-chan and Momoko do not appear in the first series, hence there are no dub names. I'll only believe these rumors if 4Kids, Toei, or BANDAI confirm and state so officially, not as a speculation or a suggestion. Conclusion: 4Kids hasn't licensed anything past the original series, therefore neither of these characters have dubbed names. The boy in the epilogueThe epilogue is one of the most widely debated mysteries for fans of Ojamajo Doremi. In the epilogue of Ojamajo Doremi DOKKA~N!, the concluding series, we see a middle-school-aged Doremi running down to a sunset-filled beach and, with a little hesitation, confidently presenting a love letter to a boy around her age. The question that puzzles many is who exactly is the boy? The boy's identity is never revealed, and all we see is a silhouette of his figure. His face is blocked out, but he has medium-long hair that shines golden in the sunset. The real answer to this question is no one knows. The purpose of this scene was to draw a conclusion to the real reason why Doremi wanted to use magic — she wanted to learn magic to be able to confess to the boy she loves, which she failed to do so in the first episode. Here she is at the last episode doing what she has always wished she had courage to. As for the boy, I believe that his identity was blocked out purposely for the audience to draw conclusions as to who he might be. I also think that it might've been to draw more attention to Doremi's situation rather than who she ends up with. This is a list of the following boys that many fans have assumed who the boy at the epilogue might be, with my own commentary:
Conclusion: We don't know who the boy is, and his identity doesn't really matter. It could be someone we've never met for all we know. Nothing officially has been revealed. Use your imagination. Ojamajo FamiAt the end of Ojamajo Doremi Na-i-sho, we are treated to a surprising twist — Doremi meets a mysterious girl named Fami, who shares the same interests as her. In the end, it turns out Fami has a special connection to Doremi. She's actually Doremi's granddaughter from the future, and is also a witch! The inclusion of Fami led to speculation of whether there is a spinoff of the series that would document the adventures of Fami "and her friends." The truth is, there is no spinoff series with Fami, and there have been no plans to make one. If there had been, Toei would have announced it, and it would be a hot topic over Japanese BBS. Conclusion: There is no spinoff series. There hasn't even been plans to make one. |
