Magical Items

About

As witches, Doremi and the girls use cute tools that help them cast magic or make their objective easier, be it a witch exam or blessing a product from the MAHO Dou. Besides a broom and a uniform, the basic items Doremi and the girls use consist of a tap — a rhythmic device that helps them transform into their witch forms — and a pollon — a magical wand. Throughout the series, these tools change based on the theme of the show.

The Witch Apprentice Tap (魔女見習いタップ) is a round, musical brooch with buttons that play the do-re-mi scale. The middle button activates the transformation and creates the witch uniform; the witch apprentice must put on the uniform before the music playing ends or the costume will disappear and she will have to start over. Pressing the middle button while in their witch forms will cause them to detransform. To bring out the pollon, Doremi and the girls play "do-mi-so-do" on the tap, and to bring out the broom, they play "do-fa-la-do."

Doremi, Hazuki, and Aiko received their taps from Majorika's box, but because Doremi accidentally caused a suit-in-armor to destroy the box, Pop had to ingratiate Dela for her own tap.

As witches, Doremi and the girls use their brooms (ホーキ) as a means of transportation without using magic beads. To retrieve the broom from the tap, they play "do-fa-la-do" on their taps.

The Peperuto Pollon (ペペルトポロン) is Doremi and Pop's first pollon, named after their spells. Magic beads are encased inside, and each use of the pollon uses up one. To summon the pollon from the tap, they play "do-mi-so-do" on their taps.

The Puwapuwa Pollon (プワプワポロン) is Hazuki's first pollon, named after her spell, "Paipai ponpoi puwapuwa puu." Although it has a different name, it looks and functions exactly like Aiko's pollon, the Poppun Pollon. Magic beads are encased inside the wand, and each use of the pollon uses up one. When Hazuki casts a spell, she twirls around the pollon like a baton. To summon the pollon from the tap, Hazuki plays "do-mi-so-do" on her tap.

The Poppun Pollon (ポップンポロン) is Aiko's first pollon, named after her spell, "Pameruku laluku laliloli poppun." Although it has a different name, it looks and functions exactly like Hazuki's pollon, the Puwapuwa Pollon. Magic beads are encased inside the wand, and each use of the pollon uses up one. When Aiko casts a spell, she spins the pollon around like a baton. To summon the pollon from the tap, Aiko plays "do-mi-so-do" on her tap.

After reaching level 6, Mota and Motamota combined the girls' pollons with their musical instruments to form the Kururu Pollon (クルールポロン). To cast a spell, the girls spin the top, hence its name ("kururu" means "spinning" in Japanese). The magic beads are stored in the spinning top, and each use of the pollon uses up one. To summon the pollon from the tap, they play "do-mi-so-do" on their taps.

Each time the girls use magic, they consume magic beads (魔法玉). Held in a drawstring bag, more of these colorful beads are used to refill the pollon each time after use. When the magic beads refill the pollon, the pollon plays a quick musical jingle. Because magic beads are expensive, Doremi and the girls are advised not to use them until needed.

The crystal balls (水晶玉) are used to hide the fairies or give them a place to rest. They are attached to Doremi and the girls' backpacks as keychains. Only users of magic are able to see the fairy if she is hiding inside the ball.

The Pureleine (Personal) Computer (ピュアレーヌパソコン) was given to Doremi, Hazuki, and Aiko from the Queen because they were the only ones who could capture the Bad Cards. Its resident inhabitant is Oyajide, who was imprisoned in the computer until all the Bad Cards were captured; the girls check with him to determine which object consists of a Bad Card. The Pureleine Computer holds all the Bad Cards that have been captured.

Oyajide was given 24 Bad Cards (バッドカード) from the king of the Wizard World to take back land from the Witch World that had previously belonged to the former. However, he accidentally lost all of them in the Human World. Once the Bad Card is inserted into an object, the item becomes cursed and causes bad luck. Only Doremi, Hazuki, and Aiko are able to capture them.

After passing the 6th witch exam, Mota and Motamota now give out achievements by awarding ackowledgment beads (認定玉) in these special vials. Once the apprentice passes the final witch exam and the vial is filled, it is presented to the Queen, who turns it into a crystal ball.

Onpu was given a magical charm (お守り) by Majoruka that would protect her from the side effects of forbidden magic, and she wears it on one of the bracelets of her witch uniform. However, Onpu's overuse of forbidden magic eventually caused the charm to shatter and rot away, leaving her vulnerable.

The crystal balls (水晶玉) are owned by full-fledged witches, and all witches receive this once they pass the level 1 witch exam. Unlimited magical spells can be cast without the use of magic beads. When the witch apprentice first receives it, it is small, but over time it will grow into a larger size. Most of the witches wear them as brooches or necklaces. All crystal balls are unique, just like the individual witch.

The following lists the known shapes of the crystal balls and their respective witch:
  • Majorika's crystal ball is a purple sphere.
  • Majoruka's crystal ball is a violet upside-down teardrop with a hole in the middle.
  • Majomonroe's crystal ball is a mauve five-pointed star.
  • Dela's crystal ball is a purple teardrop in shape of an apostrophe.
  • Mota's crystal ball is a yellow crescent moon.
  • Motamota's crystal ball is a green crescent moon.
  • The Queen's crystal ball is a purple star.
  • Majoheart's crystal ball is a purple sphere.
  • Majopon's crystal ball is a pink sphere.
  • Majopi's crystal ball is a blue sphere.
  • Majosloane's crystal ball is a green sphere.
  • Majovanilla's crystal ball is a mauve four-pointed star.
  • Doremi's crystal ball is a pink bean.
  • Hazuki's crystal ball is an orange heart.
  • Aiko's crystal ball is a blue diamond.
  • Onpu's crystal ball is a purple curved teardrop.
  • Momoko's crystal ball is a yellow three-leaf clover.
  • Pop's crystal ball is a red four-leaf clover.¹
  • Hana-chan's crystal ball is a white sphere.

The Rhythm Tap (リズムタップ) is a special tap for witch apprentices that have passed all the witch exams and it helps the girls transform into their witch forms. To transform, they press the middle button and clap their uniform on to the music playing. To summon the Picot Pollon from the tap, they clap the tap twice while they are in their witch forms. The seeds to refill the pollon are stored around the middle button.

The Picot Pollon (ピコットポロン) is the wand Doremi and the girls use both for individual spells and Magical Stage. Each spell uses one magical seed, which is inserted at the handle. The top flap spins as the spell is cast. To summon it from the tap, the girls clap the tap twice while they are in their witch forms.

These note-shaped magical seeds (魔法の実) are used to charge the Picot Pollon with magical energy in order to cast a spell. They are stored around the middle button on the Rhythm Tap. The magical seeds can be grown from a special plant from the Witch World, and they will only grow if the plant is nurtured with love every day. The power of these seeds is 10 times stronger than magic beads.

Hana-chan was born with these hair beads and always wears them. These beads are actually Doremi, Hazuki, Aiko, and Onpu's crystal balls (水晶玉), given to her to develop her own crystal ball. Whenever Hana-chan casts magic, they glow and her ponytail bounces with a cute jingle.

The Kururin Call (クルリンコール) is a cellular phone that allows the girls to keep in contact with each other. Each use requires one magical seed, inserted at the center of the phone under the flap of the body. The top is designed like a rotary dial phone, allowing the girls to spin the dial to make a call. To answer the phone, the girls press the center button. The ringtone of the Kururin Call is Ojamajo wa Koko ni Iru. ♥ "Kururin" is a portmanteau of the words "kuru" (spin) and "rin" (ring).

The Royal Patraine (Personal) Computer (ロイヤルパトレーヌパソコン) creates a map that can track down Hana-chan if she wears a special tracking brooch. To combat the wizards, it can trap Oyajide into the laptop just as the Pureleine Computer had. With the Patraine Call, the fairies are able to enter the computer. The laptop has a handle at its base for the girls to carry around.

The Patraine Call (パトレーヌコール) is a cellular phone that allows Doremi and the girls to keep in contact with each other. They are also able to coalesce their magic via the Patraine Call; it allows them to cast Magical Stage whenever they are not in the same place. The Patraine Call is also used to transfer and shoot the fairies into the Royal Patraine Computer using the verbal command, "Fly, zoom!"

Since receiving the Royal Patraine items, Doremi and the girls were also given a brooch (ブローチ) for Hana-chan to wear, which is pinned to her chest. The brooch is a special tracking device that would enable Doremi and the girls to know her location no matter where she is with the Royal Patraine Computer, especially if Oyajide or the FLAT4 kidnaps her.

The Wreath Pollon (リースポロン) is a powerful wand used whenever Doremi and the girls are in their Royal Patraine uniforms. Once they chant their spells, the pollon spins. Because the Royal Patraine is already powerful, the girls do not need to use the Wreath Pollon to cast Magical Stage; in fact, Royal Patraine uses power equivalent to that of Magical Stage. It uses two Royal Seeds per spell.

The Royal Seeds (ロイヤルシード) refill the Wreath Pollon, and two are used per spell. Like the magical seeds, the Royal Seeds can be grown from a special plant from the Witch World and will only grow when nurtured with love. Royal Seeds are very rare as they grow every 10 years.

The Parara Tap (パララタップ) consists of a ring and a wristband. It allows the girls to transform into their witch forms or into their work uniforms. The uniforms are reversible and very convenient! By clapping their hands twice, the girls can transform into either uniform, and by clapping their hands once, it allows them to switch clothing. To get the pollon out of the tap, the girls clap the tap twice.

The Sweet Pollon (スイートポロン), fashioned in a candy cane shape, is a magical wand only used in the girls' witch forms for specific individual spells or Magical Stage. It uses magical dust.² To bring it out, the girls clap the tap twice.

The Patissier Pollon (パティシエポロン) is only used when the girls are working at the MAHO Dou. After baking fresh desserts, the girls use the pollon to sprinkle magical dust to bless the consumers who eat them. To summon it from the Parara Tap, the girls clap it once while in their Patissier forms.

The Patissier intercom (パティシエインカム) allows Doremi and the girls to communicate with each other from various places while they are at work in the MAHO Dou. It also filters Momoko's English and translates her words into Japanese for the other girls to understand her. The intercom allows Doremi and the girls to shoot their fairies into the Recipe Diary. By having the fairy go inside via the crest over the headphones, the girls point towards the Recipe Diary calling, "Fly, zoom!"

The Recipe Diary (レシピーダイアリー) functions as both a recipe book and a diary. To obtain a recipe, Doremi and the girls must fire their fairy into it, and the fairy needs to find the correct recipe book amongst the thousands in the library by herself.

The diary is used to record which recipe was used to make Hana-chan's food. It works electronically and with a touch pen shaped like a candy cane, the girls must tap their colored crest for their signature and tap the letters to record their entry. The diary needs the help of their fairies, as the fairy must use a vase to collect all the letters inside the diary to successfully save the entry.

Doremi and the girls' transformation items are called the Cologne Tap (コロンタップ), and to transform, they spray it on themselves. The tap is then centered around their necks in their witch uniforms.

Doremi and the girls' wands are called the Jewelry Pollon (ジュエリーポロン), a glistening, jeweled rod. When they cast Magical Stage, the center of the pollon opens up and reveals a spinning crystal.

Hana-chan transforms into her witch form with a compact mirror (コンパクト) given to her by the Queen. However, the mirror has a limited amount of energy. Doremi and the girls must refill the compact with their magic from time to time to restore magical energy. The five stones inside of Hana-chan's mirror happen to be the crystal balls of Doremi, Hazuki, Aiko, Onpu, and Momoko.

Hana-chan can cast magic via the magical wristbands (マジカルリスト) on her gloves.

As a token of friendship, Hana-chan was given a magical accordion (アコーディアン) from Pao-chan. The accordion was originally tied around Pao-chan's neck and when Hana-chan plays it, the straps confining the accordion disappear. With it, she and Pao-chan do a dance that prepares Pao-chan to vacuum the former witch queen's curse.
