Changes

• Instead of an avant title we normally get, this episode treats us with a little message from the witch trio in a traditional Japanese style wishing the audience a Happy New Year. They thank us for our support until the other characters in the show run in. It's because this episode was first broadcasted on January 2, 2000, the day after New Years. This whole segment was cut out. (40 seconds cut)

• The signs outside of Aiko's father's taxi company were edited so no Japanese text was showing.
• Aiko bought food from the supermarket, which was having a sale, in honor of the new year. In the dub, she made everything by herself in honor of her dad's promotion.
• Aiko was irritated with her father's date and was arguing that her father going to the marriage meeting had everything to do with her. He, on the other hand, argued that he also didn't agree to it. In the dub, she was angry that he lied about getting a promotion when she spent "all of her allowance" for the feast.
• Aiko was supposed to go to the shrine to pray with Doremi and Hazuki. In the dub, it was the park fair.

• The scene where Doremi, Hazuki, and Aiko pray at the shrine was cut out. Doremi wishes for success on the level 1 exam, a boyfriend, and tons of steak. Hazuki wishes for success on the level 1 exam and the ability to be honest to her parents. Aiko prays on her father's behalf and also hopes that he doesn't remarry. Typically, in Japan, every New Years, people go to shrines to pay respects and pray for good luck. They pay money in a box, ring a bell, and clap twice before praying. They may also follow the same procedures any time of the year (especially if they need to pray to the gods for something). After Doremi and Hazuki pray, Aiko tells them that she'll catch up with them later. (45 seconds cut)

• After people pray at the shrine, usually they go to the fortune-telling box, operated by a coin machine or bought at a stand. A small scroll will drop out and determine whether the receiver gets a blessing or not. Once they tie to a tree or a rack, it will come true. Hazuki receives a blessing while Doremi receives bad luck (not surprisingly). She cries about this to Hazuki. (14 seconds cut)

• All the signs where there's any Japanese writing were wiped out from Japanese text.
• Doremi was crying about her bad luck to Aiko. In the dub, she cries that her parents won't let them go ice-skating.

• Hazuki's kimono was edited into a simple pair of boots, pants, and a jacket. Similarly, when Doremi and Hazuki's family appear, all the kimono were changed into jackets and pants.
• When Aiko tells her friends about her father's marriage meeting, they remind her that she's against it. In the dub, they urge her to tell her father about her mother's "remarriage."
• When the family appears, they were talking about how they coincidentally ran into each other and were going to have lunch together. In the dub, Pop won tickets from the "booths" she went to.
• Doremi's family couldn't go to the steakhouse because it was closed due to the new year. In the dub, it was because it was booked.

• While Aiko stands alone by herself, Mimi appears. Aiko cheers up and tells Mimi that they're going to the MAHO Dou to wish Majorika and Lala a Happy New Year. This scene was cut. (5 seconds cut)

• After visiting the shrine, Aiko and Mimi go to the MAHO Dou, where Majorika and Majoruka are drinking their butts off. Lala tries to console Aiko about her situation, but Hehe bluntly advises her to just go on with the marriage meeting because she is selfishly keeping her dad to herself. Lala and Hehe get into a huge argument and scuffle while Aiko decides to stay out of it. (33 seconds cut)
• Aiko's harmonica is changed again.
• A cloudy flashback of Hehe giving her input on Aiko's situation was cut out. (4 seconds cut) Instead, different scenes were added. To make up for all the time lost from all these cuts, a bunch of scenes from episode 34 were added with a flashback cloud. Those scenes were the part where Aiko sees her mom with another baby (11 seconds added) and runs away (16 seconds added), assuming that she has remarried.
• Aiko originally poured her father wine. In the dub, this was changed to tea.

• You know how the sign "Mondo Nagamine" got edited in episode 34? Well, the entire sign is gone in this episode. Whoohoo!!

• The sign on the MAHO Dou was edited to say "DoReMi Magic Shop."
• The male neighbor of Atsuko's originally had no name but in the dub was given the name Mr. Harris, as seen in the dub of episode 34. His first name is now revealed as Bob. In addition, the baby, whose name is revealed as Takashi, is a boy, but in the dub, "she" is a girl named "Julie."
• Atsuko's neighbor originally wanted to borrow MSG (MSG IN THE HOUSE AND WE'RE FEELING REALLY HOT!!) but in the dub, she wanted to borrow sugar.

• Aiko's father's suit originally had the Toei logo on his breast. In the dub, the logo was edited out.
• Aiko originally talked about her father's bad habits, such as singing loudly in the bath and drooling and snoring when drunk. In the dub, these bad habits were changed; she said that her father loves country music over classical and snorts when he laughs.
• In response to Aiko's comments, Midori said that she loved people who were honest. In the dub, she said that she snorts when she laughs as well, and in middle school, was nicknamed "Little Miss Piggy" because of that.
• Doremi's original command was, "Plate, fall down!" In the dub, her spell rhyme is, "Time for clumsiness to save the day, wobble, girl, and drop your tray!"
• When Midori blushed at the sight of Aiko's father, it was because she loved men in suits. In the dub, her reason was because green was her favorite color.
• Hazuki's original command was, "Cold jokes, come out!" In the dub, her spell rhyme is, "Can't have her dad coming out on top, may the bad jokes never stop!"
• (He's really great at telling bad jokes~ he's tellin' bad jokes now!) Aiko's dad's bad jokes were changed. In the original, he made super lame puns but in the dub, he said things that didn't even seem like a joke.
• Midori tells Aiko's father that she would quit her job if she married him, which had to do with the fact that his former wife wouldn't quit her job. In the dub, she expresses that her father doesn't set her up with men often.
• Aiko's original command was, "All of the fish in the pond, jump out!" In the dub, her spell rhyme is, "I've got to stop this date before it goes any farther, make all of the fish leap out of the water!"

• The dub title of this episode is "The Date Crasher." It came from the title of a 2005 film called Wedding Crashers.
