Changes

• The weekly avant title cut again! This time it's a flashback of a young Aiko finding a shell at Pichi Pichi Beach and showing it to her parents. (20 seconds cut)

• The name plate on Aiko's mailbox originally said "Senoo." This was edited into "Haywood."

• After Aiko stretches, she claps and prays to the gods to continue blessing her days. (6 seconds cut)

• Aiko nearly forgets her PE uniform, which her father brings out. In the dub, it was her lunch. Her name tag on the bag was edited out in the dub.
• Likewise, Aiko and her father's banters were changed in respect to the bag. In the original version, Aiko expresses that PE was her favorite subject, but her father notes that she probably has no talent in other subjects. In the dub, he accuses her of not liking his food, which he made because school lunches were expensive.

• The apartment sign for the complex that Aiko and her father lived in was edited so no text would be showing. It was originally called Mondo Nagamine.
• Like with Aiko's father, Aiko's mother originally had no nickname for Aiko and just called her "Aiko." In the dub, she calls her "Ducky." Haha. Belle Belle and Ducky... snort.

• A shot of Misora Elementary School was cut out. You can hear its school chime. (2 seconds cut)

• The name tag on Sugiyama's PE bag was edited into English.
• Sugiyama's joke was changed. In the original, he makes a pun with the words "found out" (barechatta) and "ballerina", so he says, "Bare-bare-no-ballerina." In the dub, he makes a different pun by saying that he was late because his dog ate his watch, hence becoming a "watchdog." Either way, Doremi and the girls find his joke lame. I mean, seriously, Doremi and Aiko were cracking smiles when Miss Seki punishes him to run 10 laps.
• Doremi was commenting on how funny Kotake looked when he got nailed by Aiko in the dodgeball game that took place at their school today. In the dub, instead of Kotake, it was Oota (Oliver).
• Hazuki was gushing about Aiko in the dodgeball game. In the dub, she talks about this random 5th grader dude Humphrey in his soccer game.

• The sign near the cash register had its text edited out in the dub.
• What tipped off Aiko that Sugiyama met her mom was the fact that he mentioned a "woman with an Osakan accent." In the dub, he mentions the fact that she was a nurse.

• The text on Aiko's letter was changed. It originally said, "Senoo Aiko-sama", and on the back "Atsuko", the first name of Aiko's mom. In the dub, the front of the letter said, "Ducky", and the back, "From mom."
• Aiko's mom originally planned to meet her at 5 PM. In the dub, it was 5:30 PM.

• The board that Aiko sees at the train station was originally a message board. On the board, Atsuko had left a message saying, "Aiko, I guess you won't forgive Mommy after all. Atsuko." In the dub, the board was a schedule that detailed the arrivals and departures of certain trains.
• Atsuko was originally from Osaka. This was changed into Dover City in the dub.

• The addresses on Atsuko's letters were changed into English.

• Aiko's bow of apology to Doremi is cut out. (1 second cut)
• Doremi wonders how Aiko's parents divorced. In the dub, she sympathizes with her and speaks of an instance where her parents were being mean to her.

• When Aiko explains why she thinks her parents divorced, there's a flashback showing what happened. In the flashback, Aiko says that when she was little, she was often alone due to her parents both working. One day, when she played by herself in the park, she fell off the jungle gym and became hospitalized. Aiko's father requested Atsuko to quit her job in order to look after her, but Atsuko refused. In the dub, the entire flashback was cut out and Aiko doesn't even mention this story at all. (46 seconds cut)

• After the flashback cuts out, Aiko makes a transition with her story and begins to tell a surprised Doremi that she was supposed to live with her mom. This was cut out. (16 seconds cut)

• A flashback cloud was added around the scene where Aiko leaves her mother for her father.
• Aiko originally knew where her mother lived, but didn't know where she worked. In the dub, she knew neither locations.

• When Doremi wonders to herself that Aiko's also searching or a person, Hazuki giggles and says, "That's so like Ai-chan." This was cut out. (3 seconds cut)

• The sign for the retirement center originally said "Retirement Center Nikoniko Home", with "nikoniko" being a Japanese onomatopoeia for "smile." In the dub, it was changed into Shady Oaks Retirement Community.

• The takoyaki sign was edited out in the dub.

• The street signs were edited out in the dub.

• Aiko's mother lived between 3rd and 15th St., in an apartment complex called "Aozora Village." In the dub, she lived in "315." Signs have been edited accordingly. Also, in the original version, Aiko knew the room number but in the dub, she doesn't.
• Atsuko's name was changed into Miriam. Additionally, in the original version, her neighbors' names were never mentioned. In the dub, the man's name is Mr. Harris and his baby's name is Julie.
• Aiko's harmonica song was changed.

• A shot of a beach umbrella that was also seen in the avant title was cut out. (5 seconds cut) It was replaced with a 2-second shot of the beach from earlier (before Aiko and the girls are seen running onto it).
• Aside from mentioning she often visited the river with her parents, Aiko was telling Doremi and Hazuki that the places they visited were also part of her fondest memories with her family. In the dub, she was talking about how she got the nickname "Ducky" from her mother.
• After Aiko stops talking about her situation, she digresses by telling Doremi and Hazuki about the beach. She informs them that the beach is nicknamed Pichi Pichi Beach ("pichi pichi" means "lovely") because of the lovely girls that would come here. In the dub, she was telling them not to cry or else they'll run out of tears and start crying mustard.
