Welcome

Greetings

PIRIKA PIRILALA POPORINA PEPERUTO! Welcome to Royal Patraine, a fan site dedicated to the cute magic girl series Ojamajo Doremi, known as the dub Magical Doremi. This site used to be known as Pretty Witch from 2003 to 2006 and has been on its downs and hiatus, but it's back and better than ever! Please note that this site has unmarked spoilers of the original anime, so browse at your risk!

Kind of on a random whim, but 4Kids has released the dub opening of Magical DoReMi onto iTunes.

Although there are no other Doremi news for now, surprisingly, Toei's latest magical girl franchise, the Precure series, has spawned their latest installment, HeartCatch Precure! Unlike the previous installments, while the characters are still in middle school, in this series, they look much more younger and more like... Ojamajo Doremi?? It looks like whoever did the character designs for HeartCatch Precure! is the same one who did the Ojamajo Doremi!!
  • A big, BIG thank you to Skye-chan, who has romanized the lyrics to 10-Byou Kazoete!
  • Forgot to mention this in the last update, but the summary for episode 40 of Ojamajo Doremi DOKKA~N! has been uploaded.
  • News dated before February of 2009 have been archived.

Hey! Long time no update, eh?

A lot of things have been touched around here and there over the past couple of months, but I didn't really post on what I updated, so here's a mass list!
  • Lyrics to Ago Yori Ai wo Komete, Ao no Kanata he, Ano Ko wo Tsurete World Cup, Egao no Ashita he..., and Katsuji Manga Kokuhaku? have been added. This means that lyrics to all songs in Ojamajo Doremi DOKKA~N! are now online. Also, OK! and Katsuji Manga Kokuhaku? have now been translated. The only set of lyrics I am missing is to the song 10-byou Kazoete, so any help or donations are appreciated!! ♥
  • Episode summaries for episodes 19 and 39 of Ojamajo Doremi have been updated with pictures and a complete cast information.
  • Episode summaries for episodes 1-12 of Ojamajo Doremi DOKKA~N! have been redone.
  • Episode comparisons for episodes 19 and 39 have been updated with pictures and timed cuts.
  • The affiliates page has been updated. Because I didn't plug it before, OjamajosPage has moved!
  • Royal Patraine was awarded the "Shrine of the Month" of September 2009 at the community Amassment!! Thank you for your support and nominations! I appreciate it. ♥
Now, for future plans of this site: I plan to accept fan submissions! That means reviews on products (like CDs, figurines, and books), character analyses, and arguments. Let's not forget fanart and fanfiction, of course. ♥ Please note that I'll have to make a new layout to accomodate this expansion, which probably won't take place until maybe months (or even years) later. I'd like for the opinions of the Ojamajo Doremi community to be read, as well as some fun, fun things for everyone to look at! STAY TUNED!

Hey, guys, I'm glad I can inspire you, but stealing from my site, both design and content-wise, is not cool. I'm not going to call anyone out (i.e. post your website links on my page because it's just asking for trouble) and the most I do now is send e-mails to webmasters with a disapproving finger wag, but this is a message for those who won't show their contact information on their websites. The last thing I want to do is go about another whiny rant about how I hate it when people copy/steal from my website, so as long as you know how I feel about this, and you do what you can to respect me, we'll be fine.

In other news, 4Kids Entertainment, the company who handles the English dub of Ojamajo Doremi, is selling off their company. I imagined that their company was going terrible financially given the economic crisis and that their stocks were the sucks, but I didn't think that they'd go this broke! Apparently, now they're consulting a financial advisor to see what they can do with their company. At this point, I don't know what will be of the company — perhaps they might merge with another dubbing company, but another question that rises is about their properties — do you think that if the company continues to succeed, even through a merger, will there be a re-dub or an uncut DVD release? I think a re-dub might be unlikely, but I don't see why not a DVD release. We'll see what happens... for now, you can give feedback in the returning current poll (haven't done those in a long time!) on what you think. I look forward to your responses!

As for the website itself:
  • I finally got to scanning two more CD covers for the discography section! More are still missing!
  • Lyrics to Rainbow and Mama ga Santa ni Kiss wo Shita have been translated.
  • The episode comparisons section has been revamped a bit. Despite that the dub of episode 30 has never been aired, I noticed that 4Kids has seemed to acknowledge its existence on their website, as they skipped the number 30 on their episode listings. Thus, I have shifted all the episodes past episode 30 up one number. Also, full, detailed comparisons (with pictures!!) for episodes 34, 35, 47, and 49 have been uploaded. Once I update/upload the other episode comparisons, I will reformat them to match the ones included in this update, which means a detailed time of what was cut, a small opinionated note based on what I felt about the dubbing, and, of course, pictures!!
  • Episode summaries for episodes 34 and 47 of Ojamajo Doremi have been uploaded.
  • The timeline has new dates.
  • The updates archive is back up. Please be aware that some links are outdated, so they may or may not work. I have rooted out most of the ones that lead to dead pages.
  • The current poll is back! Let me know what you think.

Updates have been a teeny bit slow lately, but from the background, I've been making tiny changes here and there. I haven't given up hope on this site! While there are no news and updates on the series lately, both in Japan and internationally, I'm still slowly adding all that needs to be added onto the site.

Anyways! I was trying to shop online the other day, and it turns out that the manga for Ojamajo Doremi is out of print! Well, this shouldn't be a surprise since the manga's dated to about 10 years ago, but it's so disappointing! Amazon.co.jp doesn't ship worldwide on this~ so, any additional information on the manga would be appreciated, since I'm unable to acquire such materials for myself.

Over the past couple of months, I've caught people direct-linking images from this site! I'll remind you that direct-linking is forbidden. It is not only unfair to my host to pay for the bandwidth that you "steal" from her, but it is also illegal. Please upload images to your own server!
  • Episode summaries for episodes 49 of Ojamajo Doremi # and 50 of Mo~tto! Ojamajo Doremi are now uploaded!
  • Lyrics to the full versions of Na-i-sho Yo! Ojamajo and Suteki Mugendai have been added to the lyrics section. Watashi ha Ojamajo Hana-chan!! has been translated.
  • The biographies for the Ojamajo have been updated with Hong Kong dub information.
  • The game information section now has pictures.
  • Some new dates and edits on the timeline have been made! Thanks, Andrew and Harry!
  • Two new pages: a new section that explains the running jokes in the series, and a page that will inform you about fan rumors. If you have any more, submit! The information and FAQ pages have been updated accordingly.
  • The links section has been cleaned out. Dead links have been removed, as well as any sites hosted on Geocities since Geocities will be closing and removing all of their hosted sites this year. If I removed your link and you've already uploaded your site somewhere else (or plan to do so), just contact me and I'll hit you right back up again!

HAPPY 10th ANNIVERSARY TO OJAMAJO DOREMI!! It's been a whopping 10 years since the first episode of this wonderful magical girl series debuted. ♥ Despite one of Toei's most successful series hitting a huge milestone, unfortunately, nothing special commemorating this was released, at least to my knowledge. However, considering what they have released in the past (the CD boxes, DVD boxes, and especially the book Ojamajo Doremi Memorial Album), I guess there might not have been any other ideas for re-releases, right? Only to this day, some figures are spontaneously being re-released, but other than that, nothing else. Still waiting for news on a DVD boxset for the first two series! ♥ So here's a list I compiled (for fun) on what would have made very good releases (or re-releases)! This isn't official and are simply ideas.
  1. DVD boxsets for the first two series
  2. CD release of the radio show Ojamajo Station: Naisho no Mahou
  3. DVD release with footage from the live events, especially of Ojamajo Kids
  4. DVD release of the VHS-exclusive content (Let's Cooking!, the traffic safety videos...)
... sadly, we can only dream.
